The Georgian fireplace uses carved verticals on the pilasters to affect an Ionic column appeal, with the circular capital design finishing the impression. A plain frieze is topped by a thin mantelpiece with carved stringing detail on the underside. As the name suggests, this fire place recreates the stonework of the Georgian period, and yet it works surprisingly well with today’s modern styling. Lighter colours may give the impression of stone, so would be appropriate to a room with consistent décor.
